Fundraising 101
The primary goal of fund raising is, of course to raise money, but it should be recognized that fund raising is also an opportunity to share information about Chances for Children and creating awareness for our cause. Be proud of what you are raising money for.
We are here to support you with all your fund raising efforts. Attached are examples of fund raising letters for your use and instructions on how to set up your donation request account. Please email us your successful fund raising ideas so we can share with other team members.
Remember, you are training for a marathon one mile at a time and you are raising money one dollar at a time. Break up fund raising into little achievable goals.
Achievable goal ideas to reach $1300:
- First, take advantage of the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit program and personally donate $400 (for couple) or $200 (individual) and earn a dollar-for-dollar-tax credit on your Arizona Income Tax return.
- Raise $325.00 per month with active giving
- 13 people per month to donate $25.00 each
- 1 person a day to donate $11.00
- Buy a mile (see attached letter) sell 25 miles at $52.00 each
- 50 people to donate $1.00 per mile ($26.00) for each mile a child runs in the kid’s marathon program. To make it personal for the person that donates, you can provide the school name and a description of the child they donated to.
- 8 people donate $150.00 to sponsor a child for one year. This donation will provide one child with running shoes, team t-shirt, running program, exercise and nutrition journal, transportation and entry to 3 races, school running/fitness events and a summer swim pass.
Other ideas:
- Have a garage sale. Ask family members to donate items to sell.
- Ask business for items to sell at our silent auction.
- Sell tickets to our Team Fund Raiser Night. Details to be announced.
- Ask your employer to sponsor you or match what you raise
- Have a fund raising pasta dinner for family and friends
- Ask people to save all their spare change for 3 months
- Advertise your vacation home (if you have one) for rent as a donation to Chances for children.
- Ask a local restaurant to have a fund raising night where they donate 10% (or more) of proceeds to Chances for Children and you invite everyone you know!
- Have a Simply Tasteful party. The representative will donate 20% of all proceeds to Chances.
- Sell a creative T-shirt or other items with Chances for Children Logo on it. Portable cooler, coffee mug, stationary etc:
- Sell homemade cookies during the holiday!
